A prominent nightclub in Scotland is doing its part to reach zero emissions by absorbing human body heat and turning it into energy.
Scientists and engineers working with Glasgow’s premier nightclub, SWG3, got to see the fruits of their work in October 2022, when management activated the human harnessing BODYHEAT system for the first time, garnering energy from attendees.
The large-scale human energy drainer acts like a well-orchestrated mechanical vampire, sucking all useable energy expelled from human bodies. The system takes in body heat and pipes it into underground storage tanks. Later the power can be redistributed, which could move certain facilities to a zero emissions goal.
The tech start-up BODYHEAT integrates the latest low-carbon technology into buildings to heat and cool them, allowing select staffers control.
The uncanny company plans to eventually equip venues, gyms, and offices as part of its sustainable development plan.
“The whole TownRock team and I are delighted that the first BODYHEAT system is now up and running at SWG3,” said TownRock Energy founder David Townsend. “We’re ready for all of you to come dance for the planet–make renewable heat with every beat!”
On Thursday, talk show host Shepard Ambellas said on the Shepard Ambellas Show: “For all we know, they could have had all these arena rigged up by the military to power entire underground cities from concerts.” Ambellas is known for tossing around information on his show that frequently develops at a later time.
