A 28-year-old woman packing two semi-automatic rifles and a handgun was shot and killed by police responding to an active shooter at a Nashville grade school Monday morning.
According to the son of a Covenant School staffer, the suspect breached an exterior side door, which led to an upper level of classrooms where the shooter had free range of her victims.
A team of five police officers on the school’s second level opened fire on the shooter, fatally wounding the suspect.
President Joe Biden wasted no time addressing the nation following the tragic shooting and urged congress to act swiftly regarding an assault weapons ban.
Reports confirm at least one of the rifles used in the deadly shooting was an AR-15-type.
The shooter’s motive is currently unknown.
Insider paper Tweeted a list of the victims, which included three children and three adults.
Nashville police initially thought the shooter may have been in her teens. However, law enforcement confirmed that she was 28 years old.
Update:
Intellihub editor-in-chief Shepard Ambellas Tweeted an image of the suspected shooter that law enforcement identified as Audey Hale.
Law enforcement said that Hale did previously attend school at one time.
