(INTELLIHUB) — According to Pentagon officials familiar with the matter, one hundred and thirty American spies, soldiers, and government workers have been targeted with directed energy weapons, causing permanent brain damage and hearing loss in some cases.
Officials say the attacks may be more widespread than initially thought and may have begun in the 1990s.
The second wave of attacks spurred up in Havana, Cuba, in 2016 when officials discovered several U.S. diplomats were targeted directly by sonic or pulse RF weaponry. The attacks prompted a worldwide investigation that turned up further intelligence details on the matter, which officials later released to several key lawmaker groups in Washington.
Politico reports that one attack occurred in Syria during the fall of 2020, in which troops reported flu-like symptoms. As a result, the Central Intelligence Agency has dedicated a new directed energy weapon task force to look into the issue, but there are few details on the findings.
“A directed-energy attack uses highly concentrated electromagnetic energy, including high-powered radio frequency or microwave devices and particle beams, to harm a target.,” reports Politico. “The attacks can take different forms, from jamming electronic equipment to causing pain or permanent injuries.”
Senator Jim Inhofe, a member of the Armed Services Committee, says he is awaiting further details on the issue but failed to elaborate.
“I know that we’re going to be having a discussion, a briefing on that, informal — and frankly, it’s going to be confidential,” said the Republican from Oaklahoma in an interview with Politico. “So let’s wait and see.”
Florida Senator Marco Rubio also expressed his concern over the attacks that have left some targeted individuals with severe brain damage and hearing loss.
“I think that’s a question that has to have answers,” Rubio explained to the press. “And beyond that, we’ve all seen some of these attacks on diplomatic facilities. I don’t want to link the two, but again, I just can’t comment on any of that.”
The New York Post ran a piece on Saturday claiming that the Russians are likely behind the attacks, but nothing has been confirmed. It seems the report could be another stab at the Russians, who are easy targets to pass blame. It’s no big secret that the CIA has targeting teams and targeting officers who may also dabble with DEW technologies, even though the Russians lead the charge with particle beam development.
Microwave energy weapons can severely disorient victims, causing migraine headaches, nausea, vomiting, and damage to the nervous system itself.
The Pentagon and the Defense Health Agency are looking for answers that can alert U.S. personnel if they are under attack. DEWs are undetectable to the naked eye, which is what makes them such a perfect weapon.
However, it’s not just the Russian GRU that is suspected of using DEWs on enemies. Private companies, targeting firms, are rumored to be hired to carry out attacks on foreign and domestic targets. This information was told to Intellihub, founder and editor-in-chief, by someone directly related to the matter.
DEWs can be used to bring down aerial targets such as aircraft and drones, as reported by Forbes in a report titled The Pentagon Fears That Deadly Microwave Weapons Are Undetectable.
Pentagon officials openly admit that several attacks have happened within proximity of the White House, adding cause for concern.
